According to Rightmove there has been the largest monthly decrease since January in house prices by a 0.6%, which works out about £2,044. Every year we see a period from now until the 26th of December where vendors seek a valuation and get their property ready to market but hold off until after Christmas. Rightmove has already seen an increase in valuations being booked by 14% compared to the same time last year in October. Currently the market is still lacking available properties for those potential buyers, so this period which would normally be quieter may help purchasers while some may hold fire until after Christmas. Buyers may also find with a slight decrease in prices, this may help their affordability which may have been pushed to their limits over the past year. Last year Rightmove saw an increase of 54% in website visits and with this year, buyer demand is already up by 30%, this number could be even higher.
