Yesterday it was announced by Government that on the 31st May 2021 the eviction ban enforced by bailiffs will end. This was originally put in place to help tenants and to help prevent a high rise in homelessness with some tenants losing jobs due to Covid-19 and therefore creating arrears.
Alongside this, the eviction notice periods, which were put in place for the same reason, will change from 6 months to 4 months come the 1st of June 2021. If the Covid-19 roadmap out of lockdown continues as it is, on October 1st 2021, for those in England the notice period will decrease to 2 months.
